If you are planning your first trip to Pattaya, then it is probably best to book your flight as well as your accommodation with a travel agent and stick to the more trusted hotel chains, this is the most uncomplicated method of getting or finding a room.
ACCOMMODATION AND PICKUP
There are many International Hotel names in Pattaya with many more to come in the future. Also your travel agent maybe able to organize for the hotel to pick you up from the airport and organize all transfers, if they can’t you may be able to do it yourself by finding the email of the hotel that you will be staying at and sending them a note requesting a taxi or minivan to meet you at the arrival gates.
As well as supplying your arrival and departure flight times and dates, your hotel will organize for you to be picked up from and taken to Suvarnabhumi airport (pronounced- Sou-warn-a-poom) for a fee between 1500b ($50 Aust) -2000b ($66 Aust).
DO IT ON THE FLY FROM THE AIRPORT
For the more adventurous, if you feel that you are ok with the idea that you will be able to organize everything once you arrive at the airport, the Suvarnabhumi airport has many option to get you to Pattaya or anywhere in Thailand, Choose from-
PUBLIC BUS –
On level 1 of the airport (the bottom level) is the public bus terminal, here you will find two options –
- Public bus (coach) for 134 Baht to Pattaya
- A shared public mini bus seating 10 people, ticket cost 250 Baht per person
There is a public bus (Roong Reuang Coach Service) that runs directly from the airport to Pattaya & Jomtien that leaves every hour and is located on floor 1 (level 1), take the elevator down to level 1, turn right and walk to the end of the building, follow the signs, ask airport staff if your not sure, when you come to the right area, there will be several counters all offering different travel options and prices, choose what you want and buy a ticket.
Bell travel service also have have a counter set up here (floor 1) that offer a shared mini bus that will drop you off at your hotel for 250 Baht, there is usually about 10 people in the mini bus during the trip, but hey, that’s a pretty good deal
FREE SHUTTLE BUS
Also there is a free shuttle bus located on level 4, outside the arrival gates that comes around every 20-25 minutes, (ask the information booth for its location), the shuttle bus will take you to a bus station, from there either buy a ticket from bell travel for 250 Baht to your hotel or buy a ticket with the coach service that will take you from the airport to Jomtien beach for 134 baht, Once on the bus, the driver will drop you off anywhere you want along the route.
Minivan drivers as well as metered taxi’s are waiting outside the arrival gates on floor 4 (level 4) for opportune fares, the more people in the group the cheaper the price to Pattaya. Prices will vary depending on you negotiation skills but should be about 1500 – 3000 Baht depending on how many people in your group.
METERED TAXI’S –
A metered taxi (floor 4) with the meter on can be pretty cheap, you jump straight into a metered taxi for a no frills economy run to Pattaya for around 800 – 1200 baht + toll fee’s.
Negotiating a deal for a deal for a small group of 2 -4 people will cost about 2000 Baht to Pattaya + toll fee’s of 60 Baht, but are still a good option.
PRIVATE SERVICE PICK UP FROM PATTAYA –
Some of the famous A-go-go bars in pattaya organize their guests to be picked up with a minivan from Pattaya with 2-4 of your favourite bargirls waiting inside for a good time ride to Pattaya, price can be as high as 6,000 – 18,000 Baht, depending on how many girls you want with you on the trip.
While this may seem a little expensive, its a trip to Pattaya that you will never forget and is the ultimate way to turbocharge your holiday if you plan to party like there no tomorrow.
TRAIN TO EKAMAI BUS STATION
Airport link on floor B1 lets you catch a train link into the Bangkok city centre to Phaya Thai, which is close to Victory Monument, another transport hub, or get off at Makkasan Station, from here take a 1.5 km ride south, either by subway or taxi to Asot Station and Soi Cowboy is just across the road, or walk down to Nana Plaza and stay the night in this famous Bangkok nightlife hotspot and party on. You can catch the sky-rail from Nana or Asot west 3.5 kms to Ekamai station, from here catch a bus to Pattaya for 120 Baht.
