You will never see or hear anything like it, a city caught in the grip of a water fight! 200,000 +, People armed with water pistols, buckets, PVC cannon’s, squirt guns, bowls, anything that can hold a drop of water and be used to wet someone, was used today as Songkran Mania went nuclear and exploded in a hail of water and laughter and music.
The sheer size and scale of Songkran in Pattaya on the 19th of April is hard to comprehend and is matched only by its duration, a true 24 hr event. Waking up early to the sounds of Thai music, cheers and laughter, the event was in full flight by 8 am and a cloud free, sunny day guaranteed that attendance number’s would be high, participation would be 100% and the day would be epic.
High police numbers saw the day well behaved and police barricades funneled traffic in a well organized manner, (Well, as best as can be expected) and congestion was bad, but it all kept moving. All access to vehicles was denied along Beach Rd and the adjoining Soi’s and party goers enjoyed the day without the threat of being run over by motor bikes or Baht Buses.
10’s of thousands enjoyed the food, fun and entertainment provided along Beach Rd, as live bands and DJ’s keep the crowds pumping all day and night, and food vender’s made sure everyone was feed to keep energy levels up and the local Fire brigade was on hand to turn on the ‘BIG GUNS’ to cool everyone down when needed
Songkran 2013 in Pattaya delivered all that was expected and fulfilled her potential to the max and has to be rated as one of the world’s greatest celebrations and festivals and undeniably the most fun filled! Songkran In Pattaya, on the 19th of April, most certainly must be put on your list of things to do before you die! And if you’re a water person and just want to have a good time, Songkran will go down as one of the best days of your life garenteed!
