Heavy mid morning rain, overcast conditions and unseasonal cold weather threw a spanner in the works of Songkran’s golden run in Pattaya today, after several hours of rain it looked as if it was going to be a “No Show” as Pattaya’s Streets were empty of Songkraner’s and everyone was dry. I personally rode my motor bike at 1 pm, from my apartment to Soi Boakoaw (1 km) down to to Soi Dianna, along 2nd Rd and down Soi 6 to Beach Rd and didn’t get wet until I got to Soi 7 & 8, ever here there were only a handful of water warriors.
Pattaya had hit its first speed bump and the Songkran crazy train wasn’t pulling out of the station, nether-the-less, I picked up my friend at 2:30 pm on my Battle Wagon and started splatting everyone we could in the spirit of the day, IT’S SONGKRAN AFTER ALL!!!
By 4 pm many people were making their way to their favourite splat zone positions and the battle zones were starting to swell with water pistols and the ranks were growing in numbers and the water was flowing down the Soi’s like a flood.
By 5.30 pm, Soi 7 was out of control again like it had never missed a beat and picked up right where it left off the day before, numbers started thinning out about 8 pm but some diehard fans refused to give up and continued well into the night.
Tomorrow is the 18th of April, Nakluea’s day of Songkran and her chance to show Pattaya how it’s done, come what may, it will be epic!
