BUS TO PHUKET

If you have ever wondered “is there a direct bus from Pattaya to Phuket”? The answer is yes.

You can catch the 777 bus directly from Pattaya to Phuket with no bus changes in Bangkok’s Morchit station, leave Pattaya at 6 pm, wake up in Phuket 7.30 am.

There are 2 ways to catch the bus from Pattaya to Phuket-

THE DIRECT BUS TO PHUKET

The direct 777 bus from Pattaya to Phuket leaves once per day at 6 pm, with only a few stops along the way to pick up some packages, the trip is 1009 kms and takes 11 – 12 hours, with a short stop in Chumphon for ½ an hour for something to eat and toilet break and you wake up in Phuket, trip ends at the new bus station.

1,226 baht will get you a VIP seat on the direct route and 920 baht will get you a first class seat upstairs, both are very comfortable, although a VIP seat will suit larger people better.

You can also catch this bus back from Phuket to Pattaya for the same price and the timetable is basically the same as well, bus leaves from the new Phuket Bus station north of Old Phuket Town at 6 pm.

PATTAYA – BANGKOK – PHUKET

The connecting bus from Pattaya to Bangkok cost around 120 baht, the bus, takes you to the Southern bus terminal called Morchit station, from there you buy a ticket from the upstairs agents for about 1,000 baht, from Morchit station to the new Phuket bus station, it’s about a 9 hr ride.

The Pro’s and Con’s

The VIP direct bus from Pattaya is the better of the 2 options but is now very popular, once you could walk in and buy a ticket in the day and leave that night, now you have to book at least 3 days in advance if you want to avoid disappointment, especially if you want a downstairs VIP seat, also there is only 1 departure time at 6 pm.

The buses to Morchit station leaves every ½ hour from Pattaya and takes 2 hrs to get to Morchit station, a bus leaves Morchit station to Phuket every 1 hour and takes about 9 hrs to the new Phuket bus station with a ½ hr stop at Chumphon. If you’re in a hurry, and you have to go now, this is the one for you.

Both bus stations are located on Nth Pattaya Rd or Pattaya Nua, not far from Sukhumvit Rd intersection.

The new Phuket bus station is a little out of the way and is located about 3 km’s nth of Old Phuket Town, from here you can catch a local bus to most places fairly cheaply or hire a taxi to take you to Karon or Patong for 600 baht.
